Standard Terms & Conditions
1. Installation Work:
a) All electrical installation work will comply with BS7671: 2022 Amendment 2 or any amendments in force at the time of the works.
b) All electrical installation work will comply with applicable Building Regulations in force at the time of the works.
c) Where work is to extend or modify existing circuits, costs quoted assume that the existing installation is in adequate condition and complies with minimum current regulations. Any works required to bring the necessary parts of the existing installation up to standard will be at additional cost. If this has not been established before the time of work, work may be severely delayed.
d) Unless stated otherwise, all cables will be concealed by chasing into the building fabric or concealed in building voids, under floors, etc. Where impracticable, cabling will be neatly surface run, either clipping direct or housed in trunking / conduit.
e) Where carpet or flooring coverings may require lifting to allow concealed installation work, no charge is made for this service, with best endeavours being made to avoid damaging them and to refit them to an acceptable standard. However, consideration of employing a specialist fitter may be prudent, at your cost to effect a fully satisfactory reinstatement.
f) Unless agreed before hand and in writing, chases to walls, etc will house cabling in conduit recessed >2mm below plaster finish depth, however final finishing of skim coat plaster and final decoration is excluded.
g) All endeavours will be made to undertake installation work to a clean standard, using dustsheets and vacuum cleaning equipment as necessary.
h) The contract does not outline the expected duration of the installation work, however, an estimate of this may be given on request
i) Whilst undertaking the installation work at the property, the client is required to provide water, power and toilet facilities free of charge
j) Where the project is long-term or includes the work of other trades, we request that the project manager be made known to us before the start of work and that said project manager keeps us regularly updated with current schedules of work. We are unable to guarantee last minute dates and require at least a 6 week notice period of site visits so it is essential that we are given estimated dates of work as far in advance as possible in order to avoid delays to the project. Ormerod Electrical Ltd will not be held responsible for project delays due to poor project management or schedulalling.
k) The client (or a representative aged 18 years or over and agreed upon in writing) must be present on site at all times. If a prior agreement is made that the client or a representative will not be on site, the Ormerod Electrical team reserve the right to make immediate and necessary decisions regarding the work being carried out, which may incur additional charges, on the clients’ behalf.
2. Electrical testing and certification:
a) Following Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government legislation introduced 1st June 2020, all Electrical Installation Condition Reporting carried out on domestic rental properties and certified by Ormerod Electrical Ltd will be certified for 5 years. If the property is particularly old or in poor condition, we may certify the report for one year. This is entirely at the professional judgement of our electrical team and will be discussed with the client. We always recommend that the landlord seek advice on EICR’s from their letting agent and/ or insurance company before instructing us to conduct testing and certification
b) Ormerod Electrical Ltd will notify the local authority of work to comply with BS7671: 2022 Amendment 2 and any amendments in force at the time of the works and there may be additional charge for this
c) Electrical Installation Certificates, Electrical Installation Condition Reports and Electrical Minor Works Certificates will be charged for in addition to work carried out on site (fees available on request)
d) All works installed by Ormerod Electrical Ltd will be photographed on site and added to electrical certificates. This does not compromise the privacy or security of the Client
e) Ormerod Electrical Ltd is unable to certify or notify of any installation conducted by third parties
f) Electrical Installation Condition Reports company policy and procedure:

Initial testing will be carried out and an EICR issued deemed either ‘Satisfactory’ or ‘Unsatisfactory’

We will endeavour to carry out minor remedial works on the day of testing in order to deem the report ‘Satisfactory’

If the report is deemed ‘Unsatisfactory’ we will contact you when invoicing to advise you of this. Remedial work can then be scheduled for a later date

On completion of remedial works, an Electrical Installation Certificate will be issued and the local authority notified if necessary. A second ‘Satisfactory’ EICR will then be issued. All certificates will be charged individually at standard rates
3. Exclusions:
a) Clearing and / or moving of furniture, floorboards and other items blocking access to work areas are not included.
b) Except where detailed, builders work (creating of holes larger than 50mm diameter, creating of support structures, etc) are not included, except as outlined in 1d, e and f above.
c) Re-decoration and final making good is excluded from quoted costs, unless specifically detailed as included.
d) Removal from site and disposal of rubble, fittings, wiring, materials, general waste and packaging is not included.
4. Extras and Variations:
a) Estimate includes standard white Click switch gear and any other makes or finishes required by client, unless already stated in details above, will be classed as a variation.
b) All extras and variations must be agreed in writing prior to commencement including a price estimate.
c) The addition of extras and variations will inevitably extend the expected duration of the installation work and this must be agreed in writing prior to commencement.
5. Pricing:
a) The costs quoted assume continuous and unhindered access to the site by prior arrangement with you.
b) Unless stated otherwise, the costs quoted assume standard working hours between the hours of 08:00 hrs - 17:00 hrs Monday to Friday inclusive. Work required outside these hours may attract out of hours premium rates.
c) Any additional work not covered in our quoted costs will attract additional minimum time charge rate of £36.00 per hour plus materials cost and VAT.
d) VAT will be charged at Standard Rate of 20%. If the project is eligible for reduced or zero rated VAT, Ormerod Electrical Ltd must be notified BEFORE commencement of work. Notification of an alternative VAT rate must be given via email, with supporting documents including HMRC Zero-rated and reduced-rated building works certificate and planning documents. Requests to alter the VAT on invoices retrospectively will incur an administration fee.
e) All figures quoted are valid for a date of 28 days from the date of the estimate or quotation.
f) If electrical work has been requested and organised (either by phone, email, text/ Wifi message or face to face) and carried out without a written quote or estimate being obtained it is assumed that the client accepts Ormerod Electrical Ltd standard charges of hourly rate (prices on request) per electrician, apprentice or labourer on site and will be invoiced at any time. In this instance all other terms and conditions still apply.
6. Deviations from Building Regulations and BS7671:
a) All work where applicable, will be executed fully in compliance with applicable Building Regulations and BS7671: 2022 Amendment 2 in force at the time of the work, particularly in respect of work in dwellings to allow the legal Part P obligations to be met. Where a Client requires deviation from such regulations, a written instruction and record will be required and we reserve the right to refuse deviating from regulations.
7. Risk and Title of Goods and Property:
a) The risk in all goods supplied shall pass to the Client upon delivery.
b) All goods supplied shall remain property of Ormerod Electrical Ltd until all sums due have been paid in full.
c) The client is responsible for ensuring that the property is insured for the duration of the installation work.
d) If the presence of Asbestos is suspected on site at any time Ormerod Electrical reserves the right to terminate work and demand that the client arranges for relevant testing to be carried out and all risks to health of employees be alleviated before work is resumed. In the event of such circumstances all testing and risk assessment must be done by a specialist company and any arrangements and costs are solely the responsibility of the client. Extra charges for inconvenience to Ormerod Electrical Ltd may also be incurred in this instance.
e) A risk assessment shall be carried out on the site before commencement of work. If we believe the site to be High Risk and unsafe for staff, we reserve the right to withdraw from the contract of work at no cost to Ormerod Electrical Ltd. In the event of dogs or children/ vulnerable adults being present on site we will ask that they be removed. If this is not adhered to, we reserve the right to withdraw from the contract of work at no cost to Ormerod Electrical Ltd.
f) We expect our staff to have access to usable toilet facilities while on site. If toilet facilities are not available, we reserve the right to allow staff to travel to the Ormerod Electrical office toilet at additional cost to the client.
8. Warrantee:
a) Ormerod Electrical Ltd warrants its installation work to be defect free for a period of twelve months from invoice date. Such cover does not extend to goods not supplied by Ormerod Electrical Ltd, physical damage to products, or any instance where the original installation has been altered or tampered with subsequently by third parties.
9. Payment:
a) Unless agreed in writing, payment in full must be made on completion of the specified works to Ormerod Electrical Ltd.
b) Stage payments will be requested and invoiced where planned works take longer than 7 days. We reserve the right to request from you stage payments in the instance where works take longer than 14 days.
10. Dispute Resolution:
a) In the event of a dispute, mediation is to be the preferred method of resolution.

Ormerod Electrical Ltd takes allegations of harassment very seriously and will promptly investigate all complaints. Any employee or associate who believes that they have been harassed should immediately notify Victoria Ormerod (managing director) or any other member of management staff with whom they feel comfortable. In the event that they do not feel comfortable to address any member of the management team, the employee or associate is advised to speak to a mediator.
The company will promptly and impartially investigate all allegations of discrimination and harassment with appropriate care and discretion. If an investigation reveals that inappropriate conduct has occurred, we will take prompt and effective remedial action. Ormerod Electrical Ltd retains the right to take whatever action it believes appropriate under the circumstances, up to and including termination.
Retaliation against employees for reporting or complaining of discrimination or harassment (or for cooperating in the investigation of a report or complaint) is unlawful and will not be tolerated. Any retaliation will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of the offending employee.
Privacy Policy
Ormerod Electrical Ltd collects personal data such as your name, phone number, email address and home address, to contact you about your requested electrical work. When you enquire about or book our services and opt in to providing us with this information; we have your consent to contact you about your job or contract. We also collect consent on our Terms and Conditions document we require you to sign.

We do not use any details for marketing purposes and will not pass on data to any other third parties unless you have specifically asked us to.
We lawfully process personal data which was provided to Ormerod Electrical Ltd by you on the basis of consent, or contract. We process necessary personal data as part of a contract to which you are a party, or in order to take steps by your request prior to entering a contract. We may pass or forward emails between our own business email accounts (ormerodelectrical@gmail.com and leightonormerod@icloud.com) which are only accessed by Ormerod Electrical data protection officers.
